Mike Eller for Ypsilanti City Council: Ward 3

Your true choice for real change.

Margo Brown, Co-Owner, Campbell Title Agency

I have conducted business in downtown Ypsilanti since 1982.  I have come to know and work with many Ypsilanti locals and fellow downtown business owners.  One person in particular who stands out as a shining star is Mike Eller.

Mike’s work ethic, integrity and honesty make him a qualified candidate for the Ypsilanti City Council. Rather than run away from the problems the City is facing, Mike has a no-nonsense plan to make the much needed changes to right the sinking ship. Mike is also a devoted family man and cares deeply about the future of the City of Ypsilanti.

As a co-owner of a local title company, I too am in it for the long haul and plan to remain a proud Ypsilanti business owner. The City needs sound leadership from someone like Mike Eller who will not buckle to the pressures of outside influences and self-interests.

I strongly urge everyone to support Mike in his efforts to gain a seat on the Ypsilanti City Council.

Michael Maynard, Owner, Angel Food Catering

Dear Ypsilanti Citizens,

Mike Eller and his family have been neighbors of ours for years. His business has also been actively growing over this time. Mike Eller has always shown integrity and reliability. His sense of business has lead him to purchase more property on Washington Street and add jobs in downtown Ypsilanti during difficult times.

I would welcome Mike Eller to City Council with his keen business sense and his can-do attitude toward growing Ypsilanti during financially challenging times.

Dwayne Stange, Ypsilanti Resident

Mike Eller would be a valuable resource to the Ypsilanti City Council.

Mike Eller is Ypsilanti; he's a long-time resident, advocate and supporter of the city. In my interactions with Mike, I have always found him to be sincere, well-informed, decisive, and constructive. A man of his word, Mike is a problem-solver and a long-term thinker.

His interest in the political process is motivated by a belief in the power of democracy, and although we have differing ideas, I wholeheartedly believe that his presence on the City Council would result in a better representation of Ypsilanti residents and a breath of fresh air for the Council members.

Eric Walters, Lifelong Resident of Ypsilanti

To my 3rd ward neighbors:

It has been my distinct pleasure to have known Mike Eller over the last eight or nine years.  I first met him in our mutual participation in the Ypsilanti Symphony Orchestra.  Mike became a board member, then my vice president in my second term as president, and then president of the board for two terms.  He served with distinction and honor and led that organization to its greatest financial success, proving this community could and would support a symphony orchestra.  His leadership took us to a budget that was more than three times the size it had been in my last year as president.

The symphony board was a politically diverse group and Mike was able to get members to put aside political agendas and to concentrate on the significant issues at hand.  Mike was the one behind a detailed examination of the goals and priorities of the organization.  He successfully led us through a process that built on our shared visions and goals.  I think this skill will serve him and the city well on City Council.

I have also known Mike as a successful businessman and, significantly, one located in Ypsilanti.  Business success means he understands budgets and the process that builds them.  I believe Mike will respect the professional staff in city hall and not meddle in their affairs to his personal advantage.  I believe Mike understands the role of a City Councilmember and will serve in that role thoughtfully and respectfully.

I am not a 3rd ward resident, but I will be shortly after the election.  I am urging my future neighbors to consider Mike to represent them.

Michelle Webster, "The Business Specialist", MarketPoint Associates, LLC.

I have known Mike Eller for nearly 3 years now, and have worked with him on several business transactions. Mike’s exemplary business acumen and ethics are absolutely outstanding.

Mike Eller’s’ ability to come up with win-win situations turning lemons into lemonade and negotiating skills are amazing. Mike knows what it takes to run a business successfully, has proven his expertise in growing an organization.

Mike’s business growth has enabled him to hire employees and give those employees a chance to better their lives, as well their families. I believe this knowledge, skill sets, and abilities are imperative to representing you in your community – in making your world a better place.

When you vote for Mike, you will be voting for a man who has not only the business communities’ best interests in mind, but also the community as a whole. Having a business oriented city council representation will improve your individual opportunities to live in a community that thrives.

Too bad, he is not running for governor.

Orland Andreoni, Owner, Metropolitan Cleaning Company

I’ve done business with Mike Eller for over ten years and what has stood out is his outstanding ability to solve problems. Year after year, through the ups and downs of the local economy, Mike has succeeded in growing his business through an impressive combination of market savvy and excellent communication.

Above and beyond his commercial success, Mike has always demonstrated that the City of Ypsilanti is very important to him. He has given his time freely to causes which improved and enriched the city for everyone. He is a leader with the ability and desire to do even more.

Now, more than ever, Ypsilanti needs a new beginning. The challenges facing the city are serious, and require leadership of a higher caliber to resolve them and chart a course for new growth. Mike Eller has proven that he is ready to lead Ypsilanti’s new beginning.

Tony DeMott, Ypsilanti Resident

While residing in a house owned by Mike Eller, I have had the opportunity to get to know how he does business.  I have lived in a number of locations across the country, so I consider myself an “expert witness” you might say.  I can best articulate my dealings with Mike with a few short words:

Action

Any maintenance problems are resolved promptly and done right the first time.  I do not have to call him back to get an issue resolved.

Compassion

I recall losing my key once and was unable to enter my apartment.  I called Mike during the middle of dinner hours to see if he could bring me a new one.  Within a half hour he was there with a new key and a smile.

Honorable

Mike has always respected me, my privacy and my views.  Too often, in a world divided by politics and other divisions, people attempt to force their views and standards on others.  It is rare indeed when people truly live and let live.

I would be honored to have Mike as a friend, neighbor, business partner or elected representative.  Mike absolutely has my vote and the vote of 95% of my friends.

Renee McClure

My name is Renee McClure.  I’ve known Mike Eller for ten years.  I worked as his Office Manager for nine of those years.  Mike is a very hardworking, dedicated leader, business owner, and family man.

During the years that I worked for Mike, I learned a great deal about his life, values, and leadership style.  Mike is a very transparent person.  What you see is what you get.  There are never any hidden agendas.  He is a visionary and a goal setter.  When barriers and road blocks stand in the way of his vision, then his solid problem solving skills can always find a detour.

Mike is also a team player.  He would not expect his employees to do something that he couldn’t or wouldn’t do himself.  He values his employees and is always willing to listen and make changes when necessary.

Above all, Mike loves the Lord, his wife, and his family.  He has Godly morals and lives them each day.  He is deeply rooted in his community and would be the perfect person to represent his ward for the Ypsilanti City Council.

Steve Gaffigan, for the 2007 - 08 Tenants at 508 Emmet

For the past year, while attending EMU, I and several friends have been tenants of Mike’s.  We found Mike to be honest, always helpful and took care of issues that would come up throughout the year.

Whether it was responding to maintenance requests, helping us deal with a problem roommate or simply respecting our rights as tenants, Mike always did what he said he was going to do, provided helpful advice to us, and always dealt with us in a respectable manner.

We would certainly rent from Mike again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for an honest landlord who pays attention to the needs of both the property and the tenants.

Betsy Lovell Blackmon, Realtor & Ann Arbor Business Owner

I have worked extensively with Mike Eller and find his work to be very well done, on time, and priced very well for the market.  His knowledge of the work to be performed is very good, and he communicates well to the client.
